In 2016 consumers spent $41 billion on sleep aids, remedies, and products – including wearable devices that track heart rate and/or sleep duration – and this is expected to increase to $52 billion by 2020. While many people are seeking a “magic bullet” to help them improve their sleep, the majority of these devices are passive in nature and lack evidence that they actually help improve sleep.

But what is sleep coaching?
Human coaching has been proven effective in helping people improve their physical fitness, lose weight, manage diabetes, and even reverse hypertension. In fact, the Center for Disease Control’s National Diabetes Prevention Program demonstrated a 58 percent reduction in the risk of type 2 diabetes by utilizing human coaching.
It is our belief that utilizing increased awareness, education, and evidence-based behavior change techniques will also benefit people suffering from a range of chronic sleep issues. Ultimately, the presence of a human coach facilitating a foundational sleep improvement program will help those suffering from sleep issues to engage in an active role in improving their sleep quality.
